There’s something about going back to a place that feels like you…

For me, it’s Washtenaw Dairy. No overthinking, no branding strategy, no content calendar. Just ice cream, a line that always moves faster than you expect, and that quiet reminder that life doesn’t always have to be so…produced.

I went the other day because, honestly, I needed a minute.

Lately, my brain has been full. Podcast ideas halfway formed, blog posts waiting to be written, my book sitting there like, “Hey…remember me?” Add in photos, editing, showing up online, showing up in real life, showing up for family. It’s all good things, things I care about, things I chose.

But even the things you love can start to feel heavy when they all talk at once.

So there I was, standing in line, telling myself I was just going to get a single scoop. Keeping it light. Being responsible.

Anyway… I walked out with a double scoop of Michigan black cherry on a waffle cone like I had just survived something heroic.

And honestly, maybe I had.

Because sometimes the win is not productivity. Sometimes the win is pausing long enough to realize you’re overwhelmed, and choosing something simple anyway.

That first bite? Immediate reset. Not because ice cream fixes everything, but because I gave myself permission to stop trying to fix everything.

We don’t talk enough about how pressure can sneak into the things we love. How creating, sharing, building something meaningful can quietly turn into expectations, timelines, and invisible deadlines we never agreed to.

And then we start carrying it all like it’s urgent.

It’s not.

Or at least, not all of it is.

Some of it can wait. Some of it should wait.

Because you matter more than the next post. Your peace matters more than perfect timing. And your life is happening right now, not just when everything is finally done.

So this is your reminder, and mine too:

Give yourself grace.
Don’t sweat the small stuff, or even the stuff that feels big in the moment.
Take a break without turning it into a reward you have to earn.

And if that break happens to look like a double scoop of Michigan black cherry on a waffle cone at 10 in the morning…

I support you fully.
