How are you today?
No, really. How are you doing.
Today is Thursday, and Ciara and I decided it already felt close enough to the weekend to celebrate early. No big plans, no agenda, just one very important goal: pizza.

We headed downtown in Ann Arbor for our favorite guilty pleasure. Joe’s Pizza. In my opinion, and I will stand confidently on this hill, it’s the best New York style pizza in town.
Thin slices. Foldable. Slight char on the crust. Just enough grease to remind you you’re alive.

Ciara said it reminded her of New York, which immediately made the pizza feel more official. I agreed, even though I would have agreed no matter what because the slice was already winning.
After eating, we walked around downtown, letting the day stretch out a little longer than planned. That winter light that makes everything feel quieter, softer. We talked about nothing important and everything important at the same time.
A few observations from our Thursday celebration:
- Pizza tastes better when you’re not rushing anywhere.
- Pre weekend plans deserve more respect.
- Ann Arbor has a way of making even ordinary days feel intentional.

There was no big takeaway from today, other than this: sometimes the best days are the ones you don’t overthink. You eat good pizza, you walk with someone you love, and you let that be enough.
So I’ll ask again.
What did you do today?
And more importantly, how are you doing?
