There’s a very specific kind of romance happening these days. It’s not dramatic. It’s not chaotic. It’s not someone running through the airport while music swells in the background. It’s softer than that. It’s self-aware. It’s slightly anxious. It’s emotionally literate flirtation. It’s giving, “we can hold hands, but let’s process it first.”
And honestly? I love it.
Somewhere between butterflies and boundaries lives my newest comic character: the overthinker with a heart. I think he might be staying. He’s not afraid of love. He just wants to circle it properly. Preferably with a pen. Possibly after a brief discussion.
He feels deeply. He wants connection. But he also wants context. He believes in romance and relationship communication. He knows butterflies are cute, but clarity is sustainable.

The older I get, the more I realize healthy relationships are not built on adrenaline. They are built on honesty. On emotional maturity. On being brave enough to ask, “What are your intentions?” without flinching. On choosing secure communication over guessing games.
Maybe soft anxiety is not weakness. Maybe it’s awareness.
Maybe “let’s unpack this” is actually foreplay.
So tell me, friend:
Are you circling “yes” immediately…
Or are you pulling out the clipboard and scheduling the pre-feelings meeting first?
