What did everyone get up to on this beautiful Saturday?

My morning began in a very ordinary way. A couple of hardboiled eggs, some wheat toast, and homemade spicy turkey sausages. You know those breakfasts, simple but filling. That was mine. Still, coffee in hand and breakfast on the plate, I settled near the window.
And that is when I heard them.
The chirping.
Not just one bird, but a full chorus.

Over the past week a small sparrow family has apparently decided that the ledge outside my top floor window. At first, I will admit, I was not thrilled. These little guys start their day around 4:30 in the morning. No alarm clock needed.
But today, as I sat there with my humble breakfast, the chirping felt different. Softer somehow. More charming than annoying.
I walked over to the window with my plate and caught a glimpse of them moving around near the ledge. They were tiny, busy, and completely unbothered by the fact that I was standing a few feet away watching them like a curious neighbor.
And yes, I sheepishly tried to hide the eggs.
For some reason I suddenly felt like I was holding evidence of a crime. I did not want them thinking I was some kind of bird villain. Completely irrational, but the moment made me laugh.
I am not sure yet if they are actually building a nest or just visiting. I will probably have someone come inspect the area eventually, but for now I would hate to disturb them if they are settling in.
Sometimes even a noisy little family of birds can make a morning feel kind of sweet.
A Quick Trip Into Town
Later in the day I decided to get out of the house and head into town.

There has been a lot of buzz online about a crispy chicken shawarma sandwich from
Levana here in Ann Arbor, and curiosity finally got the better of me.

I have to say, there is something oddly mesmerizing about watching meat spinning on those shawarma carousels. I could stand there longer than necessary just watching the layers crisp and turn.
It is hypnotic.
And the sandwich itself?
Delicious.
Crispy chicken, warm pita, all the good stuff layered together in a way that makes you forget to put the car in park.

I will spare you the full video documentation of me eating it, but here is a candid moment of pure sandwich appreciation.
Sometimes the best part of a Saturday is simply wandering somewhere new and trying something everyone else seems to be talking about.
Little Moments That Make a Day
Between the sparrows outside my window and the shawarma run into town, it ended up being one of those unexpectedly nice days.
Nothing huge.
Nothing dramatic.
Just small moments that make a day feel full.
Now I am curious.
What did you do today? And what are your plans for the rest of the weekend?
