Some weekends I’m deep in thought about life or culture. Other weekends, it’s the small things that make me laugh or pause for a moment and simply enjoy where I am. Here are three things that genuinely made my weekend better.
First. A little fan moment.
I fully fan-boyed over Josh Groban’s new release of Can You Feel the Love Tonight, the beautiful ballad from The Lion King, originally performed by Elton John.
Josh has this rare ability to take a song we’ve heard a thousand times and make it feel brand new. The orchestra builds slowly, his voice opens up in that soaring way he does, and by the time the chorus hits it’s genuinely moving. What really elevated it was the backing from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. Their harmonies give the whole thing this sweeping, emotional lift. It’s one of those performances where you just sit there thinking, wow. I honestly cannot wait to hear the rest of songs from Josh’s upcoming new album CINEMATIC, which is set to be released on May 8.
Second. A golden retriever that made me laugh immediately.

I came across a photo of a golden retriever with both paws stuck in two bags of Fritos.
I didn’t even think. I just laughed.
If you’ve ever been around dogs, you already know why. That smell is unmistakable. And honestly, if science has figured out why dogs’ feet smell like Fritos, please don’t tell me. I’d rather keep the joke alive.
So thank you, Henry the golden, for this accidental masterpiece of comedy.
Third. Weekend spaghetti.

The weekend wouldn’t have been complete without my famous( broiled) weekend spaghetti. It’s one of those small rituals that just makes everything feel cozy and right. Simple, comforting, and the perfect way to end a good week.
Sometimes the best moments are the ones that don’t try too hard.
I hope you found a few small things to smile about this weekend, too.
