There’s something about finding a show that just locks you in. The kind where you say “one more episode” and suddenly it’s 2am and you’re emotionally invested in people who do not know you exist.
Lately, I’ve had a few of those. So if you’re looking for something to get into, here’s what’s been holding my attention.
1. The Fosters (on Disney+)
This one surprised me in the best way. It’s warm, it’s messy, it’s real. I love how it leans into family dynamics without trying to make everything perfect. It feels like actual life, just with better lighting.
What pulls me in is the heart. Every character feels like someone you know, or someone you’ve been. It reminds me that family is not always about how it starts, but how it shows up.
2. CIA (on CBS)
Let’s talk about Tom Ellis for a second.
He’s basically giving the same energy he had in Lucifer, except now he’s working for the federal government and somehow still charming his way through everything. I’m not mad at it.
What I love about this show is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously while still delivering solid drama. It’s slick, it’s entertaining, and honestly, I’m watching just as much for him as I am for the plot.
3. The Night Agent (on Netflix)
This is one of those shows where every episode ends and you immediately need the next one. No pause, no break, just straight into the chaos.
It’s in that same lane as CIA, but it leans heavier into suspense. I like that it keeps you guessing without overcomplicating things. It knows exactly what it is, and it commits.
4. Riverdale (on Netflix)
Listen, this show is campy, dramatic, and a little unhinged, and that’s exactly why it works.
It’s teenage chaos with a mystery twist, and I’m fully here for it. Also, Cheryl? Iconic. No notes.
I love that it doesn’t try to be overly serious. It’s fun, it’s stylized, and sometimes you just need a show that lets you escape without asking too much from you.
5. The Following (on Netflix)
Anything with Kevin Bacon already has my attention.
This one is darker, more intense, and definitely not something you casually throw on in the background. It pulls you in and makes you sit with it.
What I appreciate most is how committed it is to the tone. It doesn’t water anything down. It’s sharp, unsettling, and honestly, kind of addictive in that “I need to see how this ends” way.
There you have it. My current rotation, depending on the mood.
Some days I want heart, some days I want suspense, and some days I just want a little chaos and a character like Cheryl reminding me to keep things interesting.
