There’s something about Monday mornings that gets a bad reputation.

Maybe it’s the alarm clock. Maybe it’s the overflowing inbox. Maybe it’s just the pressure we put on ourselves to somehow have everything figured out before 9:00 a.m.

Today, I decided not to do that.

Instead, I reached for a bottle of water before my coffee. I sat quietly for a few minutes with my sound bowl meditation. Now, before anyone rolls their eyes, no, I don’t think drinking water and gently tapping a singing bowl is going to magically solve all of life’s problems.

Trust me, the coffee is still coming.

But I do think small moments matter.

Those tiny decisions are like setting the stage before the actors walk on. They create an atmosphere. They tell your mind, “Today, we’re choosing peace before pressure. Intention before reaction.”

Life is already going to throw enough unexpected things our way. Emails will pile up. Traffic will happen. Someone will probably test your patience before lunchtime. That’s just part of being human.

What we can choose is how we begin.

Maybe your version isn’t meditation.

Maybe it’s sitting on your porch for five quiet minutes.

Maybe it’s stretching.

Maybe it’s reading one page of a book.

Maybe it’s texting someone you love.

Maybe it’s simply taking one deep breath before reaching for your phone.

None of those things will change your life overnight.

But they might change today.

And sometimes, today is all we’re being asked to take care of.

So as this new week begins, I hope you’ll shake off whatever followed you from last week. The disappointment. The frustration. The conversations you keep replaying in your head. The expectations you placed on yourself that were never fair to begin with.

Leave them where they belong.

This week deserves a fresh start.

Open the windows if you can. Drink the water. Enjoy the coffee. Smile at a stranger. Put on the playlist that makes you feel like yourself again. Take the long way home if it gives you a few extra minutes of peace.

Little acts of kindness toward yourself have a funny way of becoming the foundation for a really good week.

So here’s to fresh starts.

Here’s to welcoming the good.

Here’s to making room for joy, even if it arrives quietly.

And from me to you, I hope this week surprises you in all the best ways.

Happy Monday, friends.
