I’ve been working on something for a while now, and I think it’s finally time I told you about it.

I’ve written a book.

It’s called Whew, Chile.

If you’re familiar with the phrase, you already know it can mean a lot of things. Sometimes it’s disbelief. Sometimes it’s frustration. Sometimes it’s the only response you have when a situation has gotten completely out of hand.

And sometimes, it’s simply the moment when you sit back and say, “Okay…what now?”

That’s really where this book came from.

For years, I’ve had conversations with both women and men about relationships. Some of these conversations happened with friends, some with people I’ve met along the way, and some started as casual conversations that somehow turned into hours of talking about somebody’s relationship.

Over time, I started noticing how often people found themselves in that same place.

They knew something wasn’t right, but they didn’t know what to do next.

Maybe they discovered something they weren’t expecting. Maybe trust had been broken. Maybe they had ignored something for too long. Or maybe the relationship simply wasn’t what they thought it was going to be.

And that’s where Whew, Chile comes in.

This book is about relationships, but it’s really about what happens after something changes.

What do you do when the person you trusted disappoints you?

What do you do when you realize you’ve been accepting things you shouldn’t have?

What do you do when you finally have to be honest with yourself about a relationship you’ve spent years trying to make work?

Those are the conversations I wanted to have.

The title comes straight from Black American vernacular, but the book itself isn’t limited to one group of people. Relationships don’t come with a particular race, gender, or age requirement. We’ve all had moments when we looked at a situation and thought, How did I get here?

And if you’ve ever had that moment, you already understand the title.

I didn’t write Whew, Chile to tell people what they should do with their relationships. I wrote it to make people think.

Sometimes we need somebody to ask the question we’ve been avoiding. Sometimes we need to look at the red flag we kept explaining away. And sometimes we simply need somebody to remind us that it’s okay to choose ourselves when something no longer feels right.

There are stories in this book that may make you laugh, some that may make you uncomfortable, and probably a few that will make you say, “Oh, I’ve been there.”

That’s okay.

Relationships have a way of teaching us things about ourselves, sometimes when we least expect it.

I’ve put a lot of myself into this book, and I’m excited to finally put it in your hands.

Whew, Chile releases October 1, 2026.

So if you’ve ever found yourself sitting in the middle of a relationship situation thinking, Whew, chile…what now?

I wrote this one for you.

And yes…

We’re going to talk about it.
