I just want to take a moment and wish you a really beautiful Valentine’s Day.

However you’re spending it.

Whether you’re dressed up with dinner reservations, in sweatpants with your dog, out with friends, or completely ignoring the whole thing, I hope it feels gentle. I hope it feels kind.

Love does not have one look.

It does not require roses.
It does not require a proposal.
It does not require a plus one.

Sometimes love looks like quiet.
Sometimes it looks like healing.
Sometimes it looks like choosing yourself.

And since it’s a long weekend, here’s your official permission slip:

Make a big pan of broiled spaghetti. The kind that tastes even better the next day.
Or bake chocolate banana bread and let the house smell like comfort.
Catch up on that movie you swear everyone has seen except you. The one you’ve been pretending you watched just to keep up in conversation.
Shop online and support a small business that could really use it.
Text a friend you’ve been meaning to check on.
Rest.
Laugh.
Do nothing at all.

There is no right way to spend this weekend.

Just let it be loving. However that shows up for you.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for listening. Thank you for being here in this space with me.

Have a loving weekend. Truly.

  1. needed this. I’ve been feeling pressure all week to “do something.” Honestly I just want to stay home and cook. Thank you for normalizing that.

That line about pretending you’ve seen the movie made me laugh. I still haven’t seen Titanic. I said it.

Spending Valentine’s Day alone this year and I was feeling a little weird about it. This made it feel peaceful instead of sad.

    1. Alone is golden:) Happy Valentine’s Day.

Chocolate banana bread sounds like therapy. I might actually do that.
